Challenge As with most industries, the entertainment industry was fast ramping up computerization and increasingly relying on IT to enhance its competitiveness. EDKO recognized that an increasing number of local audiences were utilizing the convenient service of online ticketing. EDKO wanted to stay ahead of the curve and therefore appointed TEDGE to provide a reliable and efficient ticketing system for their cinema front offices and online users. Solution TEDGE first started with the setting up of a new online ticketing web site - www.cinema.com.hk. This is a comprehensive web site displaying movies' information, including brief description of the movies; show time and most importantly, allows audiences to check the availability of seats via online enquiries service. TEDGE provided with EDKO not just design and programming, but also hosting of the web site and all transactions. Now, audiences can choose their preference and tickets can be ordered online. The second stage was the establishment of ticketing systems in all cinemas' box offices. TEDGE's solution consists of 3 database servers and 3 web servers. Furthermore, scattered workstations are installed in all EDKO cinemas. They are also connected with TEDGE's database servers by data lines. Audiences can then check real-time information of show time and availability of seats through screens displayed in all ticketing offices. The final stage was the provision of a reliable phone/IVRS ticketing system. TEDGE's revolutionary 2G and 2.5G mobile ticketing solution seamlessly integrated with EDKO's existing WAP interface and allows users to order tickets immediately. In addition, its IVRS ticketing solution can integrate with telephone switch and provide the caller with complete control over the transaction. TEDGE fully supported the areas far beyond the conventional tickets buying through a series of new comprehensive technologies. It helps EKDO to improve efficiency step-by-step - handling telephone booking, online ticket reservation, on-site ticket buying and last but not least, accounting function.
